Do your loved ones know YOUR Love Language? Do YOU?

line5 love languages, gary chapmanA few of my top passions include my relationships.  In my pursuit of great ones, I came across this powerful book –  The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman — have you read it?  It is fantastic!

The premise is that we all have a primary love language — the way in which we both understand love AND express love.   If your love language is different than a loved one’s, then you may be doing everything you can to show your love, but he or she isn’t getting it.  AND he or she may also be thinking that you are getting how much they love you, but it isn’t phasing you.  It is a fascinating concept and even better — I have found that IT WORKS!

The 5 love languages are:

  • Physical Touch
  • Words of Affirmation
  • Gifts
  • Acts of Service
  • Quality Time

What do you think yours is?  What do you think your loved ones’ are?

There is a quiz in the book to help you discover yours PLUS examples of how to express your love in all 5, just in case you are not multi-love-language-lingual.  And it applies to single folks, children, and teens too!

So what’s yours and how do you express it?

This is an amazing book! My fiancé and I speak completely opposite love languages and this book really helped us to understand each other and how to show our love and appreciation for one another. It’s been a few years since I read this incredibly insightful book, thanks for the reminder. Now that I’m getting married soon, I think it’s time to read it again! :)

Thank you so much for writing about this book. I read it years ago and would love to re-read it. It was really an eye opener and it did even change the way I expressed love to my daughter. It will be a good refresher for me. Great job Ratika!
